Dublin City Interfaith Forum to Host Annual Peace Conference 2026 at the Mansion House, Focusing on Building Safe and Resilient Communities

Faith leaders, civic institutions, An Garda Síochána, youth organizations and community groups to gather on 15 September to address racism, polarization and community safety

DUBLIN, 4 September 2026,  The Dublin City Interfaith Forum (DCIF) will host its Annual Peace Conference 2026 on Tuesday, 15 September 2026, from 10.00am to 4.00pm at The Oak Room, Mansion House, Dublin 2, under the theme “Building Safe and Resilient Communities.”

The Conference will bring together approximately 60–80 participants, including representatives of faith and belief communities, community and voluntary organizations, local authorities, An Garda Síochána, government departments and public agencies, equality and human rights organizations, youth leaders, schools, healthcare professionals, researchers, civil society groups and international networks.

A Timely Response to Growing Division

The Conference takes place at a critical moment for communities in Dublin, Ireland and internationally, as communities contend with the effects of conflict, polarization, racism, hate, extremism, misinformation, social exclusion and declining trust in institutions. DCIF's Annual Peace Conference will move beyond identifying these challenges to examine how trust, solidarity and resilience can be built in practice, and how different sectors can work together to prevent racism, hate and extremism while strengthening social cohesion.

Conference Programme

The day will combine keynote contributions, presentations, lived and practice-based perspectives, discussion, film, participatory workshops and networking. The morning session will provide a strategic and practical foundation before turning to examples of community peacebuilding in action, including Together for Safer D8, Faith Communities & Community Peacebuilding @ NEIC.

Following lunch, the programme will screen Agus Ní Dúirt Muid Tada (“And We Said Nothing”), written and directed by Jonny Farrelly, as a transition into an afternoon of participatory workshop running from 2.30pm to 3.30pm.

A Shared Civic Responsibility

A central focus of the Conference will be the prevention of racism and hate, recognizing that racism affects access to services, participation, belonging and trust in institutions, and that an effective response requires cooperation across faith communities, public institutions, An Garda Síochána, schools, youth organizations, civil society and academia.

DCIF is a platform connecting diverse faith and belief communities and civic partners across Dublin. Its work includes the SAFE HAVEN anti-racism and anti-extremism training programme, faith literacy and cultural competence training for healthcare professionals, community peacebuilding and social cohesion initiatives, interfaith and intercultural dialogue, youth engagement and leadership programmes, and European cooperation through networks such as InterMu-Se. The Annual Peace Conference 2026 reinforces DCIF's strategic direction for 2026–2030, with its continued emphasis on responding to polarization, division and racism while strengthening partnerships between faith communities, civic institutions and wider civil society.
