The Dublin City Interfaith Forum stands in solidarity with the families of the victims who have been affected by the recent horrific acts of violence against the Jewish community in Sydney, Australia. We extend our deepest condolences to all those mourning the loss of loved ones and those grappling with fear and insecurity in their daily lives.
The increase in antisemitic acts, violence, and hate speech, reflects a troubling trend that cannot be ignored. As an interfaith community, we believe that intolerance and hatred in any form must be condemned unequivocally. These acts not only harm individuals but undermine the very fabric of our diverse society, which should be founded on mutual respect and understanding.
We recognize that every individual deserves to feel safe and secure, regardless of their background or beliefs. In these challenging times, it is crucial for us to unite against all forms of hatred, including antisemitism. It is a collective responsibility to foster dialogue, promote education on tolerance, and actively challenge prejudice in all its manifestations.
We call upon government leaders, community organizations, and individuals to take decisive action in combating antisemitism. This includes creating supportive environments that protect vulnerable communities, implementing educational programs to counteract hate, and ensuring law enforcement addresses hate crimes with the seriousness they deserve.
Let us honor the victims by committing to a future where diversity is celebrated, and where safety and security are not privileges for a few, but guaranteed rights for all. Together, we can build a society that reflects our shared values of compassion, respect, and peace.
In solidarity,
Dublin City Interfaith Forum
